the tropics.
Latin America
Agroecology of Tropical America Field Trip (Home Page)
Students will tour a tropical country and receive on-site instruction at a series of different farms and ecological preserves over a period of 18 days. Intensive field study in crops and cropping systems of tropical America, influences of geography, climate, and socioeconomic factors, as well as the impact of agriculture on the ecosystems of the region. Offered summer semester every year.

Provides students with a unique opportunity to participate in an interdisciplinary
field course at The Ossabaw Island Natural Heritage Preserve, a 26,000
acre barrier island located near Savannah, Georgia.
Maymester Session on Skidaway Island
Ecosystem
Complexity In the Marine Environment (Home Page)
At one of the premier oceanographic institutions in the country, students
conduct research with some of the top scientists in the fields of ecology
and marine science using the latest scientific equipment, and learn
about THE hottest topic in ecosystem science -- biocomplexity. Skidaway
Odum School of Oceanography (SkIO) is a research unit of the University
System of Georgia located on the coast near Savannah.

Organic Agriculture: Ecological Agriculture and the Ethics of Sustainability
This interdisciplinary maymester field course will explore the fundamental principles of sustainable agriculture through hands-on experience at an operating organic farm and agroforestry research center. Also includes a critical discussion of the social, political, and cultural issues involved in creating a more sustainable food system.
Non-traditional format: Hands-on experience at an operating organic farm and agroforestry research center.

The Honors Interdisciplinary Summer Field Program in Geology, Anthropology and Ecology (UGA-IFP)
The Honors Interdisciplinary Summer Field Program (UGA-IFP) encompasses Geology, Anthropology, and Ecology in a unique and exciting "open-air" classroom that travels throughout much of the western United States in eight weeks.
