
Administration and Committees
The Odum School of Ecology falls under the jurisdiction of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The administration of the Odum School consists of a Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, Graduate Coordinator, and an Undergraduate Coordinator. The university President, in consultation with a representative committee of faculty members, will recommend appointment of the Dean subject to approval by the Board of Regents. The Associate Dean and Assistant Dean will be appointed by the Dean.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of four voting members from the faculty, one voting staff member and one voting student representative. The Director and Assistant Director are ex officio [non-voting] members. This committee is advisory to the Director and Assistant Director and provides a liaison role to the faculty, staff and students. In order to have continuity on the Executive Committee, faculty members are voted to serve staggered terms. Note that Odum School of Ecology By-Laws require that the Executive Committee include at least one non-tenured, but tenure-track, faculty member. If there are no non-tenured faculty on the faculty that position shall remain vacant.

Graduate Program Committee
This committee deals with the graduate program comprehensively, from admissions to curriculum and other matters concerning the graduate program (graduate teaching experience, acquisition of fellowships, etc.). This committee should meet 2-4 times a year to discussion issues concerning the program and for admissions purposes.

Undergraduate Program Committee
This committee deals with the undergraduate program comprehensively, from advising to curriculum, including Maymester and study abroad course offerings. This committee should meet 2-4 times a year to discussion issues concerning the program. Focal areas include integration with other offerings on campus, advising, research and field experiences and program of study.

Space Committee
This committee evaluates the use of space controlled by the Odum School and prepares initial plans for any new or renovated space needs. This committee should meet as needed to respond to space requests, as well as at the beginning and end of each academic year to assess issues dealing with space.

Student Awards
This committee is responsible for student recognition awarded at the end of the year, including Best Student Paper award, Distinguished Graduate teaching award, Environmental Policy award, and Lindholm and Robert A. Sheldon Memorial Travel awards. This committee meets during the early spring. This is handled by the Undergraduate Program and Graduate Program Committee.

Research Facilities
This committee provides oversight of and connections to off-campus research facilities including the Chemical Analysis Laboratory, Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory, the Odum Watershed, Horseshoe Bend Laboratory, Satilla River property and other off-campus facilities and lands managed by the Odum School. The job of the committee is to work towards optimization and development of use of various sites and resources. The committee is expected to meet at least twice a year and by the end of the year, have specific recommendations for site usage and development.

Analytical Lab Oversight
This committee monitors quality and quantity of contract research performed in this lab. This committee meets in the early fall semester to review the status of the lab and make recommendations for improvement. The committee meets again in spring to review the lab before the close out of the budget.

Recycling - Dean Hardy. The recycling committee
ensures that the Odum School of Ecology has recycling services for plastic,
metal, cardboard, and paper. Each week a volunteer takes recycling generated
by the Odum School to local collection sites.
