Anne Dix was born in Guatemala, grew up in Athens and earned her PhD in ecology in 1997, and since then has worked all over the world, from Central America to West Africa to Central Asia. She’s now back in the U.S. serving as director of the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad program of USAID.
